Zach Cregger discusses new sci-fi film ‘The Flood’

Director Zach Cregger has shared details regarding his upcoming science fiction project, ‘The Flood’, produced by Steven Spielberg. While Cregger is known for horror films such as ‘Barbarian’ and ‘Weapons’, he clarified that ‘The Flood’ is not a horror film, though it may contain unsettling or scary elements.

Cregger described the film as having a unique narrative structure and noted that it draws inspiration from Stanley Kubrick’s ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’. He emphasized that the project aims to explore deeper, more personal themes through an experimental approach to the science fiction genre.

In addition to ‘The Flood’, Cregger is involved with a new ‘Resident Evil’ film adaptation in collaboration with Sony Pictures. This project seeks to capture the tension and atmosphere of the original Capcom video game franchise rather than strictly following the existing plot or characters.
