Zach Cregger to direct new Resident Evil film

Director Zach Cregger is returning to the horror genre with a new Resident Evil film adaptation. The movie follows Bryan, a medical courier who becomes caught in a chaotic struggle for survival during a night of bioterrorism-induced chaos.

According to the director, the film’s timeline runs parallel to the events of Resident Evil 2. Rather than a direct retelling of the game's narrative or focusing on established protagonists, the story offers a peripheral perspective on the Raccoon City disaster. The production aims to honor the source material’s essence by incorporating gameplay-inspired elements, such as specific camera angles and resource management themes.

The film features a cast including Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser. Cregger, known for his work on Barbarian, co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten.
