Zadar railway infrastructure projects include 150M euro Bibinje tunnel
In Croatia, significant railway infrastructure developments are planned for the Zadar region. A major project to relocate the railway line from Bibinje and construct a tunnel is estimated to cost approximately 150 million euros. This figure represents a significant increase from 2019 estimates due to changing market conditions. The Croatian government is expected to issue a decision regarding the financing of this project within the coming weeks.
Additional plans for the Zadar area include the potential restoration of passenger rail service by 2028, the renovation of stations in Benkovac and Skabrnja, and the development of a rail link between Zadar and the Zadar Airport. The project also aims to introduce new battery-powered trains to the region and implement noise protection measures in nearby settlements.
