Infrastructure development in Croatia and Montenegro

Overview

Infrastructure development projects are underway in Croatia and Montenegro focusing on road and rail improvements.

In Croatia, Hrvatke autoceste (HAC) has initiated a tender for the Mala Kapela tunnel on the A1 motorway to replace 208 worn-out doors. This 2.4 million euro project is slated to begin in November and last approximately 260 days. In the Zadar region, plans involve a major railway relocation and the construction of the Bibinje tunnel, an estimated 150 million euro project. Further regional rail goals include renovating stations in Benkovac and Skabrnja, developing a link to Zadar Airport, and introducing battery-powered trains.

In Montenegro, reconstruction efforts are advancing for the Vrmac tunnel. The project, which connects Kotor to the Adriatic highway and Tivat, will include building an evacuation tunnel section, renewing the roadway, fixing drainage, and updating electrical and mechanical systems such as ventilation and fire alarms.
