Zagreb Bus Station to Receive €1.36 million Renovation

Zagreb’s central bus terminal will allocate €1.36 million this year and into early 2025 for extensive renovation and modernization. The bulk of the spending, €775,000, is earmarked for legally‑required works, including €390,000 to repair the steel framework and €385,000 to install a stable fire‑detection system.

An additional €590,000 will fund operational upgrades: a new information system worth €250,000, installation of automatic barriers at sanitary facilities, extra microphones for ticket counters, and a backup power generator. Work began in June, with the steel‑structure repairs split into two phases—first phase finishing 21 July and second phase completing by 20 January. The fire‑safety system is to be operational between July and September, and the broader modernization is expected to be finished by mid‑2025. All costs are covered by the station’s own funds following a recent glass‑panel incident that prompted the city council’s oversight.
