Zagreb completes infrastructure works on Ulica grada Vukovara

The City of Zagreb has completed infrastructure works on approximately 500 meters of Ulica grada Vukovara, stretching from Trešnjevački trg to Ulica Florijana Andrašeca. Following the renewal of water supply pipelines, the project included the installation of sidewalks, 1.5-meter wide bidirectional bicycle paths, a new storm drainage system, and 18 new public lighting poles.

The project, valued at over 950,000 euros excluding VAT, also features underground traffic light installations. The road is prepared for a dynamic traffic management system that will allow traffic lanes to adjust based on real-time conditions, potentially utilizing the middle lane for either east-west or west-east traffic to reduce congestion.

Mayor Tomislav Tomašević noted that while such underground infrastructure investments are often unpopular due to traffic disruptions, they are essential to replace aging systems, some of which date back to the 19th century.
