Belgrade and Zagreb initiate major urban infrastructure projects

Major urban infrastructure projects are underway in Belgrade and Zagreb. In Belgrade, the demolition of the Staklenac shopping center is scheduled to begin by the end of the year to facilitate the construction of a new metro station. This project will also necessitate the temporary relocation of the Bajloni market to Dunavska Street. The new metro station is planned to feature a platform at a depth of 33 meters.

In Zagreb, the city is investing 3.1 million euros into the renovation of tramway tracks. The project, managed for ZET, involves replacing damaged concrete elements and paving over a two-year period. To minimize disruption, works may be carried out at night, on weekends, and during holidays. Additionally, the demolition of an old railway station building in Donji Mihaljevec has commenced after years of delays.

In Donji Mihaljevec, the demolition of the historic railway station building, which locals had hoped to preserve, finally began on August 18, following several years of postponed plans by Croatian Railways.
