Police traffic enforcement actions intensify in Croatia and Montenegro

Zagreb police carried out a two‑day night operation over the weekend, recording 942 traffic violations. The majority involved speed limits, with 198 cases, and the police removed almost 150 drivers under the influence of alcohol. Other offenses included failure to wear seat belts, mobile‑phone use while driving and one driver testing positive for drugs.

In Montenegro, traffic police have expanded the use of drones to monitor road safety. Digital patrols in Bar and on the Podgorica‑Sutomore‑Bar corridor detected multiple serious violations, resulting in the issuance of seven traffic tickets and the arrest of a motorcyclist who refused a stop sign and drug testing. The drones also recorded offences such as illegal overtaking, failure to secure cargo and riding without a helmet.

Following a viral video from Primošten showing a hospitality owner striking a child's stroller, Zagreb lawyer Luka Lenić urged police to employ existing health‑check powers to assess drivers suspected of dangerous behaviour, arguing that such preventive measures could lead to licence restrictions or revocations.
