Zagreb's Dubrava district plagued by illegal parking obstructing sidewalks

Residents of the Dubrava neighbourhood in Zagreb have highlighted a persistent problem of vehicles illegally parked on sidewalks, bike lanes and even the centre of the road. A video posted on Reddit shows cars blocking pedestrian pathways, forcing cyclists, parents with strollers and people with disabilities onto the street.

The uploader reports having sent numerous complaints via the city’s e‑mail address and the police’s mobile‑app reporting system, but says no effective action has been taken. The fine for illegal parking – €30 – is considered too low to deter repeat offenders. Some locals suggest installing traffic bollards to make the sidewalks physically inaccessible to parked cars, while others call for stronger enforcement by traffic wardens.

The issue is described as chronic in Dubrava and is said to occur in other Zagreb districts as well, raising concerns over public safety and municipal response to traffic violations.
