Zakopane draws 1.5 million tourists as International Mountain Folk Festival returns in August 2026

Zakopane, a town at the foot of the Tatra Mountains in southern Poland, attracts about 1.5 million visitors each year and serves as a popular base for weekend trips to the mountains. The resort offers well‑maintained ski slopes in winter and a network of hiking trails in summer.

From 21 to 27 August 2026 the town will host the 57th International Festival of Mountain Folk Culture in Dolna Rówka Krupowa. The event will feature musical ensembles and cultural groups from Portugal, Senegal, Ghana, Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Bosnia‑Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, celebrating diverse mountain traditions.
