Zakynthos Receives €1.5 Million State Aid for Natural Disaster Recovery
The Greek Government’s State Aid Committee approved a new €1.5 million allocation for the island of Zakynthos to repair damage caused by recent natural disasters. The funding complements earlier investments, including €800,000 for anti‑flood and anti‑erosion works in Lithakia and Agala, €250,000 for emergency repairs to the DEYAZ network after fires, and €300,000 for additional restoration needs.
Mayor George Stasinopoulos thanked Deputy Minister Kostas Katsafados and the island’s MP for their swift cooperation and highlighted the municipal effort to document damages and prepare technical dossiers, enabling the prompt use of the resources to protect citizens and strengthen infrastructure.
