Zakynthos unveils extensive summer cultural program and theatre upgrades
The municipality of Zakynthos announced a dense summer cultural agenda for July and August, featuring daily "Musical Sergian" walks through the city, concerts by artists such as Nataša Bofiliou and Elena Papazîrou, and a charity performance supporting the Cancer Patients Association. The schedule includes a slate of theatrical productions ranging from classic Greek plays—"Antigone", Aristophanes' "The Ecclesiazoûses" and "The Rich Man"—to contemporary works like "The Bloody Wedding" and Zorz Sarı's "Narrow Shoes".
The programme also extends to the island’s villages, a two‑day tribute to poet Dimitris Laggio, and the launch of the fourth municipal philharmonic. Concurrently, the Outdoor Municipal Theatre has undergone extensive renovation: comprehensive cleaning, repainting, new lighting, installation of a cooling system and the procurement of roughly a thousand new seats through the LEADER initiative.
