Zalo users urged to delete five common scam message types

Scammers on the Vietnamese messaging app Zalo are using increasingly sophisticated phishing tactics. Five typical fraudulent message formats are highlighted:

1. Survey or gift offers that direct users to fake sites requesting personal details such as name, phone number, email and ID images. 2. Fake login or OTP requests that mimic Zalo’s interface, leading to immediate account takeover. 3. Impersonated bank alerts that link to counterfeit internet‑banking pages, enabling theft of card numbers, passwords and OTPs. 4. Counterfeit social‑media or email notices that trick users into revealing login credentials, which can then be used to access e‑wallets and other accounts. 5. “Commission‑task” schemes that lure victims into paying fees to unlock higher‑paying assignments, after which contact is cut off and funds are stolen.

Experts advise anyone who receives such messages to delete them promptly to avoid loss of personal data, account control or money.
