Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal Distributes 72,000 Fertiliser Bags to Farmers
Governor Dauda Lawal of Nigeria’s Zamfara State launched the 2026 wet‑season fertiliser programme at the Trade Fair Complex in Gusau, distributing more than 120 truckloads of agricultural inputs. The distribution included 72,000 bags of fertiliser, 200,000 litres of herbicide and 100 crop‑residue crushers, together with 100 grass choppers, 100 feed‑milling machines, improved pasture seeds, 20 motorcycles and 20 mobile phones for extension agents. Lawal said the initiative aims to boost agricultural production, strengthen food security and improve farmers’ livelihoods, positioning Zamfara as a key contributor to Nigeria’s agricultural economy. He highlighted partnerships with the federal government and development agencies such as FADAMA III, NG‑CARES, SPIN, ZACADEP, SAPZ and IFAD‑supported projects to modernise farming, increase mechanisation and promote climate‑smart practices.
