Zamfara troops foil mass abduction attempt by terrorists

Troops from Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, foiled an attempt by terrorists to carry out a mass abduction in Unguwar Rogo, located in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The attack was reportedly a reprisal by fighters loyal to bandit kingpin Malan Shuaibu following the recent arrest of seven suspected informants and logistics suppliers. These individuals were allegedly involved in facilitating ransom transfers via Point of Sale (POS) agents and assisting in the procurement of motorcycles and fuel for the group.

During the incident, attackers used roadside vegetation to ambush commuters and block roads. While the security forces responded to a distress call, the attackers managed to abduct three individuals before being intercepted.
