Zapatero case intensifies as Plus Ultra executives face questioning

The Audiencia Nacional has reactivated the investigation into former Spanish President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, focusing on alleged irregularities surrounding the rescue of the airline Plus Ultra.

Judge José Luis Calama has authorized the UDEF to access more than 60 bank accounts belonging to the former president, his family, and related companies. The investigation is examining a suspected commission of 530,000 euros allegedly linked to Zapatero, a claim his defense rejects. Additionally, the probe is looking into the origin of certain jewelry, transfers involving a self-declared frontman, and the potential influence of Venezuelan interests in the airline's rescue.

Former executives of Plus Ultra are scheduled to testify on September 7 and 8 to clarify the circumstances of the public financial support received by the company and whether any irregular compensations were made.
