Zapopan floods inundate 22 homes after Río Blanco overflow

Heavy rain on 8 July 2026 caused the Río Blanco and nearby storm‑drain channels to overflow in the Tesistán district of Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. The resulting flood hit the La Estrada neighbourhood, submerging about 22 houses with water up to half a metre – and in some streets up to a metre – damaging furniture, appliances, clothing and other personal items. Roads such as Calle Amapola and Avenida Río Blanco were blocked, limiting vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Zapopan’s civil‑protection authorities and fire‑fighters deployed submersible pumps and specialised equipment to remove water and began damage assessments. Officials warned that further storms could bring additional flooding and urged residents to stay alert while relief efforts continue.
