Zapopan proposes land swap to relocate police housing project

Zapopan Mayor Juan José Frangie has proposed a land swap with the Jalisco state government to resolve a dispute regarding the Legado housing project for police officers. The conflict stems from planned construction in the Mirador de San Isidro neighborhood, where residents successfully obtained a judicial injunction to halt the works.

To avoid prolonged legal battles, the municipality has offered state-owned land in exchange for the Mirador de San Isidro site, which the city intends to preserve as a public park. Frangie indicated that there are currently three municipal land options under consideration, including a site in the Tesistán area. The Jalisco Housing Institute (IJALVI) is currently analyzing these alternatives to determine the most viable location for the 200 planned homes.
