Zarea Hotel to be auctioned by Moldovan state
The Moldovan state is preparing to auction the Zarea Hotel, located in central Chisinau, along with its associated land. The starting price for the property is set at 106 million lei. The 12-story building contains 137 rooms and has been managed by the Public Property Agency since 2018.
Authorities aim to attract a new owner capable of investing in the modernization and repair of the 45-year-old facility. Recent financial data shows fluctuating performance; while the hotel saw a profit of approximately 197,000 lei in 2024, profits dropped to 29,000 lei last year. Additionally, the hotel's occupancy rate in 2025 was reported at only 38%, significantly lower than the Chisinau average of 70–80%.
The auction is scheduled for October 20. The Zarea Hotel is one of four state assets slated for auction as part of an ongoing privatization process.
