Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced plans for new long-range strike operations against targets deep within Russian territory. Following a meeting with Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara and Armed Forces Commander Mykhailo Drapat, Zelenskyy indicated that Ukrainian authorities are preparing to expand their long-distance strike capabilities in response to Russian actions.
This announcement follows reports from the Ukrainian Air Force regarding significant Russian aerial activity. Between the evening of September 18 and the night of September 19, the Russian military launched attacks involving two Zircon supersonic missiles and 174 drones, including Shahed and Gerbera models. Ukrainian command reported the destruction of 141 targets, including various drone types and glide bombs.
Previously, Ukraine has intensified its influence operations and drone strikes against Russian infrastructure, including oil refineries and logistics warehouses. Domestic ballistic missile manufacturer Fire Point has also signaled upcoming strikes within Russia, noting that its FP-7 tactical missile has successfully completed two test flights.
