Zenica City Council clarifies status of new oncology project

Snježana Vrhovac, the Chairperson of the Zenica City Council, has clarified the current status of the proposed construction of a new oncology department at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital. Following inquiries made to the Urbanism Service, it was revealed that the Cantonal Hospital has not yet submitted a formal request for urban planning consent for the facility.

Vrhovac emphasized the importance of providing the public with accurate information regarding the project's progress. While expressing support for initiatives to improve healthcare and modernize oncology services in Zenica, she noted that decisions must be based on verified facts and established legal procedures.

Regarding requests for emergency City Council sessions, Vrhovac clarified that while citizen associations can propose initiatives, they do not have the authority to mandate sessions or set the agenda. She called upon all relevant stakeholders to follow necessary procedures and coordinate activities to ensure the project is realized legally and efficiently.
