Zenica-Doboj Canton allocates millions for economy and veterans
The Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) government has approved significant funding to support various sectors, including the economy, tourism, agriculture, and veteran welfare.
Approximately 5.5 million KM has been allocated to boost the economy and tourism. This funding supports 162 enterprises, 45 tourism infrastructure projects across seven cities, 13 local communities, and 25 associations. The initiative aims to enhance competitiveness, facilitate equipment procurement, and develop tourist destinations.
In the agricultural sector, roughly 472,600 KM has been designated for 2026 incentives, specifically targeting pig farming and the breeding of protected animal breeds. Additionally, about 51,000 KM is set aside for social welfare to assist employees from companies undergoing bankruptcy proceedings.
Furthermore, 2.3 million KM is dedicated to the veteran population. Minister Adnan Sirovica stated that these funds target employment, self-employment, business support, student scholarships, and housing solutions. Since 2016, more than 1,100 small businesses belonging to the veteran community have received support, with a reported 70 percent business retention rate in the region.
