West Herzegovina Canton allocates 19 million KM for student textbooks and transport

The West Herzegovina Canton (ZHK) has allocated more than 19 million KM from its budget to support students through free textbooks and transportation.

A total of 11,264 students in the region—comprising 7,253 in primary schools and 4,011 in secondary schools—benefit from these measures for the 2026/2027 school year. The government fully finances the procurement of textbooks for primary school students, a program maintained since 2019. According to the ZHK Ministry of Finance, 3,310,575.16 KM has been spent on textbooks to date, with 650,000 KM secured for 2026.

Additionally, the canton has provided free transportation for both primary and secondary students since 2012. Total expenditures for student transport have reached 15,784,000 KM, with 1,500,000 KM already paid out in 2026. These initiatives aim to reduce the financial burden on families during the return to school.
