Zero Waste Foundation leads Üsküdar beach cleanup with divers and special athletes
The Zero Waste Foundation organised the "Geleceğe İz Bırak / Plastiksiz Temmuz Buluşması" in Üsküdar, Istanbul, together with the Turkey Special Athletes Sports Federation and the Turkey Underwater Sports Federation. Divers and special athletes, including participants with Down syndrome and autism, collected plastic debris from the sea floor and brought it to shore, removing items such as a large car tyre.
Speakers including Zero Waste President Samed Ağırbaş cited United Nations projections that plastics could outnumber fish in the oceans after 2050 and urged the development of a lasting zero‑waste culture. The event was attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and highlighted the broader environmental crisis, calling for nationwide participation to protect future generations.
