Zeytinburnu building demolition causes wall collapse into adjacent apartment
A portion of a wall collapsed into a third-floor apartment in the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul during the demolition of an adjacent building as part of an urban transformation project. The incident occurred around 11:00 AM on Karanfil Street in the Telsiz neighborhood.
Debris from the wall fell directly onto a bed inside a room. The resident, Eren Ulaş, reported that his sibling narrowly avoided injury, noting that if they had woken up just five to ten minutes later, the falling debris could have struck them.
Following the loud noise, the Ulaş family inspected the room and discovered the large hole in the wall and the debris on the bed. Workers involved in the demolition reportedly attempted to temporarily cover the opening with sacks.
