Zeytun neighborhood in Gaza faces imminent winter humanitarian crisis

Residents, local officials, and civil defense teams in the Zeytun neighborhood of the Gaza Strip have issued an urgent international appeal to prevent an imminent humanitarian catastrophe as winter approaches. Following continuous military operations, approximately 85 percent of the neighborhood's housing and infrastructure has been destroyed, leaving hundreds of thousands of civilians living in plastic tents.

Civil Defense Organization spokesperson Mahmud Basal stated that Zeytun has been declared a disaster zone. He warned that the current blockade prevents the entry of heavy machinery and reconstruction materials necessary to fortify living areas. Without intervention, the vulnerable makeshift shelters face significant risks from rain and flooding, mirroring the deadly conditions experienced during previous winters.
