ZFN expels fighter Kim Jung-woo after YouTube live stream assault
ZFN, the mixed martial arts organization founded by Jung Chan-sung, has terminated the contract of fighter Kim Jung-woo following a violent incident during a YouTube live broadcast. The organization stated that Kim’s actions violated the dignity maintenance clause of the athlete contract.
The incident occurred at an officetel in Cheongna-dong, Incheon, where Kim applied a ‘guillotine choke’ to a male viewer in his 20s. Despite the victim repeatedly tapping to signal surrender, Kim did not release the hold, causing the man to lose consciousness and strike his head against the floor. Following the loss of consciousness, Kim reportedly patted the victim’s cheeks and made a comment to the effect of “let him sleep” rather than providing immediate medical assistance.
The victim is currently hospitalized and is reportedly experiencing symptoms of partial paralysis. Incheon Seobu Police have booked Kim on assault charges and are investigating the circumstances of the incident, including whether other individuals present during the broadcast were complicit in the assault.
