Zhivko Todorov nominated for Mayor of the Year 2026
Voting has opened for the ‘Mayor of the Year 2026’ national contest in Bulgaria, organized by Kmeta.bg. The competition evaluates the performance of local authorities during the third year of the 2023–2027 mandate.
Zhivko Todorov, the Mayor of Stara Zagora, has been nominated in all eight categories for large municipalities. The contest includes all 265 Bulgarian municipalities, categorized by population into small, medium, and large groups. The eight voting categories consist of two main titles, ‘Mayor of the Year’ and ‘Mayor of the Citizens’, alongside six special categories: Urban Environment, Smart City, Tourism and Culture, Sport and Youth Policies, Investment and Growth, and Health and Demographic Policy.
Citizens residing in Bulgaria can vote online via the Kmetnagodinata.bg platform until 23:59 on September 24, 2026. To prevent manipulation, organizers are monitoring for automated voting or unusual patterns, and votes from non-Bulgarian IP addresses are not permitted. Winners will be announced at an official ceremony on September 29, with the event being broadcast on BNT 1 on October 4.
