Zielona Góra Winobranie festival draws crowds and medical concerns

The annual Winobranie wine harvest festival in Zielona Góra has drawn significant crowds from across Poland, offering a diverse program of concerts, wine tastings, and cultural exhibitions. The event serves as a major regional cultural milestone, featuring performances by various artists and showcasing local vineyards and regional products.

However, the festivities have also led to increased pressure on local medical services. The University Hospital in Zielona Góra reported a record number of patients arriving at the emergency department due to alcohol intoxication during the first weekend of the festival. Out of 235 patients treated over the weekend, 25 were admitted specifically due to alcohol-related issues, including one individual with a blood alcohol content of 4.8 per mille. Hospital officials have urged attendees to celebrate with moderation.
