Zijin Longking unveils massive electric autonomous mining truck

Zijin Longking has unveiled the ZL230E, a massive all-electric mining truck designed for use in large-scale open-pit mines. Located in China's Fujian province, the vehicle features a total weight of 350 tons and a payload capacity of 230 tons, making it one of the largest electric mining trucks in the country.

The truck is powered by two 800 kW electric motors mounted on the rear drive axles, managed by a central control system to ensure traction on steep terrain. It utilizes a 1,400 kWh battery pack capable of ultra-fast charging, which can replenish the battery from 10% to 90% in just 25 minutes. This charging speed is intended to minimize downtime compared to traditional diesel refueling.

Developed in collaboration with the Australian developer EACON, the ZL230E also incorporates advanced autonomous driving capabilities. The system uses cloud-based planning and environmental recognition to allow the truck to navigate mining sites without a driver, aiming to increase operational efficiency and safety in harsh industrial environments.
