Zijin Longking unveils world's largest fully electric mining truck

Zijin Longking has unveiled the ZL230E (also known as LK350E), a massive fully electric mining truck designed for open-pit mining operations. Launched in Longyan, Fujian province, the vehicle weighs 350 tons and features a record-breaking net payload capacity of 230 tons for zero-emission heavy machinery.

Developed in collaboration with the Australian autonomous mining technology company EACON, the truck integrates advanced electric powertrains with autonomous driving capabilities. The vehicle is powered by 800 kW independent electric motors on its rear drive axles, utilizing an intelligent torque distribution system to maintain maneuverability on steep inclines and muddy terrain.

To address the efficiency challenges of electric heavy vehicles, the ZL230E utilizes a 1,400 kWh battery pack equipped with an ultra-fast charging architecture. This system allows the battery to charge from 10% to 90% in just 25 minutes, aiming to match the refueling speeds of traditional diesel vehicles. The integration of EACON’s cloud-based fleet management and autonomous technology allows the truck to operate without drivers in complex mining environments.
