Zimbabwe advances infrastructure through duty waivers and US$66.9M Victoria Falls deal

Zimbabwe has introduced several initiatives to bolster national infrastructure and economic growth. The government has suspended customs duties on essential stadium equipment and specialized sports imports under Statutory Instrument 142 of 2026. This measure aims to assist local authorities and sports bodies in modernizing public sporting facilities, including turf systems, seating, scoreboards, and lighting, to meet international hosting standards.

In Victoria Falls, a US$66.9 million public-private partnership has been established between the Mosi-oa-Tunya Development Company and Victoria Seven Investments. This deal focuses on developing the 271-hectare Masuwe Special Economic Zone. The project includes constructing roads, water and sewer systems, electricity networks, and telecommunications infrastructure. The serviced land is intended to support hospitality, real estate, healthcare, and tourism education, as well as an international multi-purpose cricket stadium.
