Ziya Öztürkler announces proposed December 6 election date

Ziya Öztürkler, Speaker of the TRNC Assembly, announced that the Council of Ministers has submitted a proposal to hold two elections on December 6. To ensure the process is finalized and approved by October 10, Öztürkler stated that the Assembly must hold an extraordinary session within September.

During a recent program, Öztürkler addressed several critical issues, including the Cyprus problem, the attitude of South Cyprus, and the Immovable Property Commission. He criticized South Cyprus for exerting political pressure to prevent international recognition and activities, citing instances such as the removal of a Barcelona football camp scheduled in Nicosia and the deletion of a congratulatory message from the Somali Assembly Speaker.

Additionally, Öztürkler discussed legislative matters regarding the removal of mixed voting and noted that a German lawmaker traveled to the country individually after a formal request was rejected by the German Parliament.
