Zlín building demolition halted after intruder enters unstable structure

Demolition work on the remains of Building 34 in the former Baťa industrial complex in Zlín has been interrupted following a security breach. An unidentified man entered the fire-damaged structure, reaching as high as the fourth floor, which forced an immediate halt to all demolition activities.

Security cameras from the owner, Cream, detected the intruder, prompting a police response. Due to the risk of uncontrolled structural collapse in the eastern wing, firefighters were deployed to locate the individual using a drone. The man was eventually found on the fourth floor, exited the building, and was taken into police custody. He is suspected of unlawful conduct.

The demolition of the reinforced concrete structure, which was deemed unsalvageable following a fire, is expected to take up to 25 days. Heavy machinery, including a 100-ton Caterpillar excavator, is being utilized for the process.
