Zlín burnt-out high-rise building demolition to finish this week
Demolition of a burnt-out eleven-story building in Zlín is expected to be completed by the end of this week. The structure, located in the former Baťa industrial area, was severely damaged by a fire on July 9, which caused parts of the north and west sides to collapse.
The building is owned by the company Cream. Demolition work, managed by Build Synergy 7, began on August 7 and is scheduled to take 25 working days. A heavy excavator equipped with hydraulic shears is systematically dismantling the structure from the top down. Once the rough demolition is finished, approximately 140,000 tons of debris will remain on-site for sorting and removal.
Authorities previously ordered the immediate removal of the structure due to safety concerns. The owner is required to clear the entire site, including all debris, by December 15. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire originated on the ninth floor in a warehouse leased by the company Vasky.
