Zlín high‑rise fire continues as firefighters cool collapsed building

A major fire broke out on the morning of 9 July in building 34 of the former Bata factory complex in Zlín, Czech Republic. The 11‑storey structure burned intensely, and two sections collapsed, leaving roughly half of the building standing.

Firefighters have been pouring water on the debris and using misting systems to cool the remains. Six units remain on site, and a helicopter assisted until Friday evening. Police are investigating the incident as a possible case of general danger caused by negligence; no injuries have been reported. Nearby streets stay closed to the public, and authorities are seeking any eyewitness information to help determine the cause. Damage estimates have not yet been released.
