Zlín's fire‑damaged Cream tower ordered demolished by Dec 15
A large fire broke out on 9 July in the ninth‑floor shoe‑warehouse of a high‑rise building owned by the Cream company in Zlín, Czech Republic. The blaze spread through several floors and the roof, causing the structure to partially collapse but resulting in no injuries. Police are investigating the incident as a possible case of negligence that could carry up to five years’ imprisonment.
The Zlín building office issued a decree requiring the owner to fully dismantle the remaining structure by 15 December, with the most dangerous sections to be removed within six weeks. Cream must maintain continuous monitoring of the building’s static condition and report wind speeds above 40 km/h to neighboring property owners. The company has already selected a specialist demolition firm and expects the demolition to take several weeks.
