Albania and North Macedonia face political and economic debates
In Albania, Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded to the investigation into former SHISH director Vlora Hyseni, arguing that judicial matters should be left to the courts rather than public speculation. Opposition members have called for discussions on the SHISH scandal within the Defense Commission, raising questions about national security and appointment criteria.
In North Macedonia, the Znam political movement, led by Maxim Dimitrievski, is emphasizing transparency and accountability, reporting that 42 central-level officials have submitted public work reports. Meanwhile, political tensions persist regarding the minimum wage; a proposal to increase it to 600 euros was rejected by the Economic Affairs Commission, despite opposition claims that the move is necessary to combat the cost-of-living crisis.
Other regional developments include the opening of the 2026/2027 academic year at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Skopje and discussions regarding European integration and legislative reforms in North Macedonia.
