Zoltán Szujó to step down as MNASZ president
Zoltán Szujó, the president of the Hungarian National Motorsport Association (MNASZ), has announced that he will not seek re-election during the organization's upcoming elections in December. He will continue to fulfill his presidential duties until December 1, 2026.
Szujó described his four-year term as a turbulent period characterized by difficult decisions and efforts to rebuild the culture of Hungarian motorsport through increased transparency and dialogue. He noted that personal attacks and a lack of unity within the community have hindered progress, stating that the sport cannot strengthen if its community constantly undermines itself.
The MNASZ leadership has faced significant instability in recent years. The presidency, which is structured to consist of seven members, has seen its numbers dwindle to four following the departures of several officials, including Zsolt Gyulay and others. This reduction in personnel has led to concerns regarding the board's ability to function effectively, necessitating the upcoming general assembly.
