Zoo Duisburg announces 2026 Zoolichter light festival

Zoo Duisburg has announced the return of its Zoolichter light festival for 2026. The third edition of the event is scheduled to run from November 5 to December 6, 2026.

In collaboration with World of Lights, the festival will feature over 30 different light installations spread across a four-kilometer circular route. The 2026 theme will focus on the Big 5—buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino—alongside a new eight-meter-long Chinese dragon installation. Other highlights include Chinese lanterns, flowers, butterflies, and life-sized unicorns.

During the event, the zoo will be open from Thursday to Sunday, between 17:00 and 21:00. Visitors will also have the opportunity to observe crepuscular animals, such as clouded leopards and wombats, during the evening hours. While ticket pre-sales have not yet begun, parking at the zoo is listed at a cost of 5 euros.
