Slovenian political figures face legal scrutiny

In Slovenia, several legal and political developments have emerged involving high-profile figures. Zoran Stevanović, the President of the National Assembly, has faced scrutiny following revelations of a 15-year-old criminal conviction. The conviction, which was previously removed from criminal records, involved a fraud case in 2011 where Stevanović was sentenced to a six-month suspended prison term after obtaining a 2,500 euro loan under false pretenses.

Simultaneously, police conducted a house search at the residence of Andrej Ribič, a prominent member of the Freedom Movement and former executive at Dars. Ribič is under investigation for the suspected bribery of Member of Parliament Aleksander Štorek. Ribič has denied all allegations, characterizing the investigation as politically motivated and describing the claims as lies.
