Zubin Potok: Remains of at least 23 people found during war crimes probe

Authorities in Kosovo have confirmed the discovery of bone remains believed to belong to at least 23 individuals during excavation and exhumation efforts in Zubin Potok. The findings were announced through a joint statement by the Kosovo Special Prosecution, the Kosovo Police, and the Institute of Forensic Medicine.

The remains are suspected to be linked to the disappearance of 23 civilians from the Mitrovica area in April 1999 during the Kosovo War. Excavations are currently being conducted at multiple locations, including Mala Kaludra and Jabuka, with officials stating that the work is in its final stages.

Three individuals, identified by the initials J. R., M. J., and M. B., are currently in custody and under investigation for suspected war crimes against the civilian population. Full identification of the remains will be completed following forensic medical examinations and relevant legal procedures.
