Zubin Potok mayor warns of Gazivode lake demolitions in Kosovo

Mayor Miloš Perović of the Serbian‑majority municipality of Zubin Potok met with KFOR deputy commander Brigadier General Federik Kolina to discuss the demolition of Serbian homes on the shore of Lake Gazivode. Perović said the lake is "a vital part of our life and survival" and expressed concern over recent actions, including the removal of about ten weekend houses in the village of Čečevo, the selective enforcement of motor‑boat rules, and other measures affecting local residents.

Perović accused the Kosovo authorities of ethnic persecution, citing statements by Serbian List deputy chairman Igor Simić that the unlawful demolition demonstrates a continuation of policies targeting Serbs. Kolina reiterated KFOR’s commitment to a safe and free movement environment for all communities. The municipality of Zubin Potok had not issued permits for the demolitions, according to the Kosovo Ministry for Communities and Returns.
