Zulia Governor Luis Caldera adds 2,546 education workers to payroll, relocates 117 Yukpa families

Governor Luis Caldera of Venezuela's Zulia state formally incorporated 2,546 education‑sector employees—including teachers, administrative staff, construction workers and mothers who prepare school meals—into the official payroll of the state education secretariat. The workers now serve in 557 schools, and Caldera described the move as “a historic day for Zulia because we are doing justice.”

In the same day’s announcements, Caldera confirmed the completion of the relocation of 117 Yukpa indigenous families from the Circunvalación 1 area. Thirty‑nine families returned to the Sierra de Perijá, while the remainder were settled in San Francisco and the Kilómetro 9 zone. The relocation was accompanied by integrated support, including medical care at a National Guard command, and was presented as a step toward dignifying the indigenous community and securing their basic rights.
