Zulia Governor Luis Caldera initiatives
Entities: Luis Caldera · Corpoelec · Delcy Rodríguez · Zulia · Rolando Alcalá
Overview
In mid‑July 2026, Governor Luis Caldera of Venezuela’s Zulia state announced a large‑scale expansion of the state education payroll, adding 2,546 teachers, administrators, construction staff and school‑meal workers to serve 557 schools. The same announcement included the completion of the relocation of 117 Yukpa indigenous families to new sites with accompanying medical and social support.
Two weeks later, on 31 July, Caldera shifted focus to the region’s electricity infrastructure, handing over 520 locally produced distribution transformers to 21 municipalities covering 109 parishes. The delivery, described as the largest single‑batch shipment in recent state history, was carried out under instructions from interim President Delcy Rodríguez and Energy Minister Rolando Alcalá and aimed to restore power to thousands of households affected by heavy rains, aging equipment and accidents.
