Zunjie V800 faces scrutiny after brake pedal failure reports
The luxury MPV brand Zunjie, a collaboration between Huawei and JAC Motors, is facing a major controversy following reports that the brake pedal bracket on the V800 model snapped during testing by the automotive platform Dongchedi. The testing revealed that the bracket failed under a peak force of approximately 1612N.
Zunjie has responded by stating its braking systems meet or exceed national and industry standards, suggesting the testing involved extreme conditions. The company has pledged to optimize the component design and offer free upgrades to existing customers. However, the incident has sparked intense debate regarding safety margins and the use of glass fiber reinforced polypropylene (PP+GF40) in the bracket construction.
The controversy has extended beyond technical specifications. The official media account ‘Xinjiang Release’ published a critical article regarding the product safety issue before it was removed, and Dongchedi is reportedly under investigation for unfair competition. The fallout has also impacted JAC Motors, which saw significant stock price fluctuations following the reports.
