Zurich Central Station named Europe’s best railway station

Zurich Central Station has been named the top railway station in Europe according to the 2026 European Railway Station Index. Compiled by the Consumer Choice Centre, the index evaluated 60 of the continent's busiest stations based on criteria including punctuality, waiting times, accessibility, and passenger services.

Zurich scored 101 points, followed closely by Paris Nord Station with 100.5 points and Amsterdam Central Station with 98.5 points. Notable improvements were seen at Paris Gare du Nord, which rose from 15th to 2nd place due to significantly reduced waiting times and improved punctuality. Wrocław Central Station ranked fourth, making it the highest-rated station handling fewer than 50 million passengers annually.

While stations in Switzerland, France, Poland, and the Netherlands dominated the top rankings, German stations saw a decline in performance, occupying four of the bottom five positions in the index.
