Zvonimir Boban criticizes AC Milan's lack of ambition
Zvonimir Boban, the former AC Milan player and current Dinamo Zagreb president, has issued sharp criticisms regarding the current state of AC Milan and its ownership, RedBird Capital. Speaking at the Festival dello Sport in Trento, Boban argued that the club has lost its competitive edge and has instead “adapted to not having ambition.”
He stated that if the club’s sole objective is merely to qualify for the Champions League, then the institution has lost its identity. Boban compared Milan’s current mindset to that of Napoli, suggesting that Napoli demonstrates a greater awareness and drive to win. He extended this critique to other major Italian clubs like Juventus and Inter, noting that they must aim for titles rather than just participation.
In addition to club management, Boban commented on his playing career, recalling the 1994 Champions League final victory under Fabio Capello. He also addressed his views on tactical setups, expressing skepticism toward certain modern defensive systems, and defended his previous outspokenness regarding club management.
