Zvornik and Belgrade to reconnect via international rail line

Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia are set to restore international passenger rail service between Zvornik and Belgrade. The new line, running from Zvornik Novi to Beograd Centar, is expected to operate daily starting in December, following the implementation of the 2026/2027 timetable.

The agreement was reached during a meeting in Belgrade between the management of Željeznice Republike Srpske and Srbijavoz. Acting general directors Dragan Zelenković and Ljubiša Pejičić discussed the technical and material details required to establish the connection.

Passenger trains between the two countries have not operated since December 2012, when the Belgrade lines were discontinued. The restoration of this service is expected to significantly benefit residents of the Zvornik region who have relied on alternative transport to reach Belgrade in recent years.
