Zwardoń border crossing closed for trucks during five‑week D3 highway overhaul

From 23:00 GMT on 12 July until 08:00 GMT on 17 August, the Slovak section of the D3 motorway between Svrčinovec and Skalité will be completely closed for a five‑week renovation. The closure blocks the Zwardoń–Skalité border crossing for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes, forcing heavy trucks to avoid the crossing.

Lighter vehicles may use the designated detour on Slovak national road 12 (I/12) through Skalité, Čierne and Svrčinovec, then join road 11 toward Čadca. Trucks exceeding 7.5 tonnes must instead travel to the former Polish‑Czech crossing at Cieszyn Boguszowice and proceed via the Mosty u Jablunkova route to the Slovak‑Czech border.

The Slovak National Motorway Company (Národná diaľničná spoločnosť) announced the works, and the Silesian police issued the related traffic notice for drivers.
